Anouk has had her 2nd general anasthetic for the week & all is in place for chemotherapy to start next week.
The surgeon was very happy with what the MRI showed yesterday. He was..."pleasently surprised.." with the amount of the tumor that had been removed....which is a good thing.
Today the Hickman line was inserted & she had a Lumber puncture. We had hoped that a boost to her glucose level would produce a more...balanced recovery to the anasthetic.....no chance....as usual she was well pissed off for a least an hour after waking up...luckily mother was there to ..'take care' of things. Once the screaming match had ended she seetled down & finally went to sleep at about 2130..about the same time as her big sister who 'had' to watch the end of Mamma Mia.....yet again.
Apologies for the lack of pics but the family is spilt in half for a few days as I spend some time with Neave. Today this consisted of dropping her off at school, Vicky picking her up, taking her to Gymnastics & me feeding her what someonelse had cooked...thats what I call true father like organisation.
All going well Anouk & Catherine will be home mid morning Friday & we will all be together for the weekend. On Monday Catherine will head to the Marsden Hospital in Sutton to get the chemo process underway. Initially they will do some tests on her Kidney to make sure everything is in order, She will be heavily monitored during chhemo & this renal tests part of that process.
We have to say that the Nurses on Ocean ward at St Georges have been fantastic. Emma, Sarah, Lucy, Destina & Malini thankyou so much for look ing after Anouk. Apologies that she took so long to smile at you but she leaves you having being loved & in a good state to start the next part of her journey....so thankyou.
