Stable Today

Anouk has had a reasonable day, her headaches have been very well controlled, she has started using a slow release morphine patch, and there have been no episodes of sickness.  She has had multiple visitors, people have been so kind and supportive, we have not had to cook a meal since Friday and have a plentiful cake supply for us and anyone who pops in, - everyone is on holiday and we have seen so many friends.  It feels a bit like Christmas but with a tragic undertone...

We told Neave what was going to happen to Anouk and this felt like a huge relief for her and us and then she went to the hospice for a chat with her play therapist, who will see her on Friday.

Anouk was happy and funny this morning and even went for a quick dip in the pool this afternoon, but then spent the rest of the day shouting at us abut anything and everything.  "Get me something to eat, I'm hungry" and just to be prevocative because she knows she can't really eat anything of substance - "I want to eat something hard, harder than a rock" and then when i gave her a sweet and asked her to lick it she bit a chunk off and clenched her teeth together "I am going to eat it all and swallow it whole and not chew it".  She is also fighting sleep all the time, still concerned that she will miss out on something going on, "I am not going to sleep" or "I am never going to lay down ever again".

She did eventually fall asleep and now we are going to join her.
